Hi

I am new member- hello to everyone!

I wonder if anyone could help me. I am not an audiophile so please bear with.

I have a pair of k3003 and not sure if there is an issue with the right ear.

The sound seems to be predominantly on the left, yet when I use my Dita Answer, it is more central and there seems to be more 'going on' in the right ear with the Ditas -  Sorry I cant articulate this better.

If I were to be standing in front of a compass, the sound is NNW in front. Yet with the Ditas it's more central; the right ear on the 3003 seems muted compared but there is still some sound coming from it. For instance, on live music you can hear bits of clapping from the crowd. Hard to explain really. When I listen to the right ear on its own I can still hear everything!! Something just doesn't sound right when they are both in!

Any advice

Cheers

Sounds like what we call channel imbalance. Try giving the mesh grills (or sound grills) a clean. Use a cotton bud with a few drops of metho on it. Sometimes, especially over time wax and grud can build up over the mesh which can partially block the sound.

Hi there,

I know it was a while back now, but do you know what caused the fault?  My 3003is seem to have developed a similar fault (though in the left ear). The sound seems to be imbalanced towards the right channel, and I'm getting less volume out of the left (although both channels seem to have reduced in volume compared to what I was getting a while ago).  Did yours have this fault from new?  I've been using mine daily for around 2 years now, and this fault has only just developed.

Any thoughts welcome.

Thanks.

Hi mate.
I got mine via a private sale and sent them back to the seller. Had to threaten PayPal action and he reluctantly agreed a refund. I think there was an issue prior to me buying them. Never got to bottom of the issue but there was definitely a problem, as if one ear was muted. I assumed they were genuine but I have seen some turning up on eBay without any verifiable provenance so maybe I had a dodgy pair? Seems strange that your problem is similar to mine. Maybe a known issue. My DITA 'Answers' were superior and should not really have sounded better. I use the ie800 now but still want to try a genuine pair of K3003 if I can get hold of some.

Thanks for the quick Chris.  Embarrassingly though, I have just removed the filters and the sound is perfectly balanced without them (and when I switch the filters over the sound out of the right channel becomes muffled), so it appears to be just an issue of 2 years' worth of cr@p on the filters (more on one than the other for some reason).  It's a relief though that all I need to do is give the filters a good clean. On that basis, I'd very much recommend the K3003s as they really do have a great sound (comparable to some of my full-size cans in terms of musicality, depth, 'punch' and detail).

Thanks again.

Sent them back to seller mate; either fake of just not very good.
I bought another pair for Amazon but they failed too. Not sure if they are not robust or I was unlucky. I only buy gear with removable cables now
