which of these two would you pick? does the akg k240 block any noise? how deep are the ear cups of the k240 (i ask because my ears stick out a little)? what are the tonal balances of these two phones?

I don't have any experience of either, however, i've always fancied a pair of the Sony's (did i just say that?) they look like a good laugh!

Which version of the K240 are you looking at? My MP Sextett is semi-closed and blocks out some noise, with music playing it covers up the sound of my fan. I don't have any comfort issues but I guess some people do with their ears touching the grills, there's some mod with speaker fabric that's supposed to fix that. The sound is somewhat neutral but a bit dark with impactful bass and involving mids.

There's a bunch of different headphones with the K240 monkier though, so none of this might apply for you.
