Damn you people now I need to hear the AD2000’s . Have found plenty of 2000x’s on eBay but no 2000’s.

They were only released in Japan and were once considered to be amongst the best headphones in the world at the time. Due to the limited release, theyre rarer than hen's teeth.

Listen to your Sextetts, imagine the Sextetts with a wider stage, deeper sub bass, drier sound and a substantial clamp making them quite difficult to listen to for extended sessions.

Just saved you 400 bucks. You owe me a beer.

7 years ago I was asking for recs in this section for headphones that were good for metal. Asr, the author of this review, jumped in and suggested the AD2000s to me. Now im here passing along the knowledge of the AD2000s. Love this community (mostly)

I have a fairly large head and don't find the clamp all that substantial. They're quite comfortable actually.

Just wanted to post an update on this. I have since picked up the Grado Hemps and I can say, for me, they complete the Holy Trinity for guitar-based music along with the Sextett and AD2000. They're perfect for unamped listening. Right out of my phone, I get that crunch that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. I'd love to find this sound in a closed back set.

I've tried a bunch of others since as well - K240DF, K240 Monitor, K340, K270 Studio, Monolith M560, Meze 99 Classic, V-Moda M-100 and while they are all nice in their own respects, they can't match that sound you get from the Holy Trinity.
