I have a couple questions about these headphones. First of all, how do they sound in comparison to the AKG K81DJ's (if you haven't heard them, then just give your opinion)? Would either one be considered an 'upgrade' from the K81's?

Also, would this be a good deal for either headphone?

Sennheiser HD485-$74.00 shipped
AKG K141-$79.95 shipped

Haven't heart the AKGs, but the 854 have a friendly sound with big bass (too big before burning in) and smooth sound, enjoyable without amp (32 hm) but they do sound a litte bit better with an amp (true for all Senns it seems, even the Px100).
The circumaural design is very comfortable for me, albeit slightly warm.
They are not perfect of course (loosing to more expensive designs in detail, control and finesse) but I think they are great value dor the money.

I liked my HD-485 very much, Great punchy bass and good highs and mids, unfortunately I had to sell them for my 595, i would have liked to have booth.

I haven't heard the other you are mentioning.

Yeah the HD485 is one great <$100 headphone.

Note that with use it tends to get more and more balanced.

My K141S instead has been stuck in a drawer for a long time.
