I just wanted to see how the headfi community responded to whether or not AKG should go back into production of the AKG K1000. So what do you think, yes, or no?

The two reasons why they shut down production of the K1000 is that:

1.) Too few people willing to buy it (obviously)

2.) The machines that created...I forgot, the drivers? Something like that, it was rapidly deteriorating, and couple that with the first reason, and they cut production off.

Of course I think everybody would like another round of K1000, but the price won't be like back then (only $400 or so IIRC), it'll be like now; $800-$1000.

Who knows, maybe it should be AKG K1001 (like 701)

Indeed, I must get my hands on a pair of these when I can afford it.

I would like to see another production run of these but I don't think it will happen. And if it does, I think a much more likely pricepoint would be something in the order of $1600-$1800. The original MSRP was around $1200, although as previously mentioned, they were at one point going substantially lower than that. That said, I agree with those who have said that given the change in market conditions, it probably won't happen.

I would really like to hear them and another production run would increase my chances of that... I have been into HT for the past ten years and many HT'ers are getting back into audiophile stereo music...both speakers and headphones, like myself, so the market is actually in my opinion ripe for such a totl.

It would surprise me alot if they went back into production.
I wouldn't mind though, but the K1000's are not on my shortlist.

Nope.

Their retail price was around $1200. Only time they were available for under $500 was a price mistake that Headroom honored way back when. And the lowest street price was about $550 before they were discontinued, basically that was the clearance price.

I would be really nice if they did another run.
Cause I really enjoy the K1000 and could need a second (call it spare) pair.
