I am planning to get a pair of K-501 for classical/jazz listening (mainly) together with the Perreaux SXH-1 amp (about $350 in Japan).

Do you think it's a good combo (considering my intended use)? If not, which amp would you suggest?

I've listened to the AKG 501 combination, but not extensively. I liked the combination, but I can't really tell you too much more than that. If I have the opportunity, I'll do some more listening and get back to you.
