// JUST BOUGHT THE DT 880s ON THE FORUM AND I CANT WAIT TILL THEYRE IN

The price difference is some ~$150 so its really hard to figure out.
I listen to mostly rock/alternative/acoustic, but also on occasion 81s specialty, bass heavy music.. I have a nice little amp, the c&c box so what do you guys think would be a better call?

I understand that the 880s are a more neutral set, but how do they compare to the 81s otherwise? Which would gain more from the amp? Please let me know anything you think I should consider.

The DT880 outclass the K81DJ in all respects.
They don't have the bass the K81DJ have. Bass on the K81DJ is overpowering sometimes.
The DT880 are much politer, more detailed, very beautiful sounding, but not extremely "rocking".
Bass on the DT880 is deep and full, but not so obviously present, not so punchy.
Another VERY large difference: comfort. K81DJ are not comfortable at all while the DT880 are among the most comfortable headphones ever.
I never heard your C&C amp, so I cannot comment on the combination with either, but the DT880 really needs a decent amp.
This is of course all my opinion. (but I am pretty shure most people who have heard them will agree

That seems like a very arbitrary pair of headphones to compare. They are very very different in just about every way. I suggest you start with your headphone requirements and choose the cans you want from there. For example, music tastes, does it need to be portable?, is isolation an issue? (open or closed), budget, etc.

No doubt the DT880's blow away the K81dj's in every possible way. But if you want a headphone with phat bass like the 81dj, you want the DT990.

These two are way different. The head-fi way is to get both.

X2! save some braincells and dont agonize over which 1 to get-get em both! you're bound to need a portable setup sooner or later (i feel its gonna be much sooner than u think). IMO it'l be money well spend. Have fun

It is not wise to give an advise about DT880 if you have never heard them.
DT770 and DT880 have absolutely nothing in common, so your experience with and opinion of the DT770 is of no use here.
