Can anyone point me in the right direction for a K702 DIY balanced cable. I’ve had a quick search and couldn’t find much info.

So this is not a simple matter of re-terminating the 1/4" plug

Thanks guys for your help, but I’ll need some more info if there’s any available.

Some sort of guide, I’ve searched the threads and can’t find any detailed instructions/guide on how to go about doing this for the k702.

There’s scattered info but nothing solid that I could dig up.

Something similar to this wonderful thread by cotdt for the 701’s

Other than the pinout of the current mini-xlr I'm not sure what more information there is that's different from the k701. One way, but not very aesthetic, would be use the xlr connection for the left and make a hole for the right. Or maybe order another left cover with the xlr and see if it'll fit on the right side?

What's confusing me is how the mini 3 plug splits into the 4 required cables for balanced.

But those 3 three pins have to be terminated into 4 for balanced.

Therefore does pin 1 just split for right and left minus.

But it defeats the purpose of balanced if they are joined at 1 common pin. My point is without adding a 4th pin somehow (maybe ripping apart a 4 pin mini-xlr and transplanting it in) the stock connection won't do for balanced.

Thanks hobbang819, it’s beginning to sink in

Is this correct then, cable will run into two 3 pin xlr connectors.

That's what I was thinking, assuming that the left cup also fits on the right side.

Another way might be to take out the xlr connection (which seems to be removable from the service doc) and running a cable directly in.

Interesting stefanaudioart seemed to have gotten around this problem, by the looks of their detachable cable for the K702
