2.5mm issue I can sum up as the inconsistent 2.5mm male plug.

depends on which ear phone you are using.

ummm, head-fiers i have a question, i just purchased & got a brand new chord hugo and wanted to also purchase this Astell & Kern AK240 Stainless Steel to pair it together with the hugo. should i wait to see if astell & kern will correct this problem with the 2.5mm trrs balanced out headphone jack or buy the duralium astell & kern ak240? your input is greatly appreciated. maybe the HiFiMAN (HM)-901s or Geek Wave XDF-256?

If you're mainly going to use the AK240 as a dap source for the Hugo, then the TRRS problem plaguing new AK240SS owners should not be a concern for you.   

Hugo mainly employs two inputs from portable daps: SPDIF coaxial // Toslink optical

With the AK240 or AK240SS you are only going to use the 3.5mm jack as toslink optical output into your Hugo.

i clearly know that you will use the 3.5mm for Toslink optical from the dap source ak240 to the chord hugo,but if my calculation serves me right, you (sp3llv3xit) is telling me that for the astell & kern AK240 stainless steel it is ok to shell out $3kkk for what is to be the best headphone hi-res audiophile dap on the market today by head-fiers standards & it is ok or not a biggie if there is a flaw with the 2.5mm trrs input & simply disregard this issue?

My AK240SS now has issue with Volume Dials, It no longer could turn down volume anymore.
Dial Up --> Volume increases
Dial Down --> Volume also erratically Increases
 
This built quality is really such a disappointment!
2.5mm problem now Dial Volume problem!

Never heard people having issues with Lotoo.
Maybe is time for you to change.
At the price point given the product should be perfect.

What's the probability of a AK240II with upgraded hardware and software being released soon? The AK100II and the AK120II are already in the second series...

Hello everyone. i finally sold my first born n get the AK240SS. All i can say is wow...worth it....worth it......so worth it.
 
but i also having problem with my 2.5mm TTRS.. Using a Shure 846 with Moonaudio Silver Dragon. please give me some tips or trix to cure this problem.
