One of my main reasons I am interested in the AK-100/120 is storage capacity.I have a 24/192 copy of "Green Grass and High Tides"by The Outlaws thats over 350 mb's

I was wrong the file of Green Grass is only 24/96,so im guessing if I can ever find it @192 it would end up being over 700mb.

As i upgrade my music collection from MP3 to FLAC to 24/96 and above the dual storage slot is VERY tempting

Yep 3x 64 GB = 192 GB total.

  Why don't you just get an amp? I don't think you will need an DAC...

Sorry if I don't understand completely. I always thought that the DAC inside the AK100 converts the signal to an analogue output signal that a HP can use. Am I wrong here?
 
And - has anybody tested if the M8 can drive an LCD-2  well ?

Yes. DAC of AK100 converts them into signal that a hp can use, and amp amplifies it. You can just plug in the amp to hp jack of AK100.
 
And sorry. I haven't tried a M8.

The M8 does darn well with the LCD-2...from what I've heard. I am quite satisfied with its performance with the HD800

I ordered a hifi-m8 lx and was also wondering about bypassing the ak100's dac, so I emailed Centrance and they replied within the hour. That's pretty good on customer service if you ask me...anyway this was their response...
Thank you for your email.

- HiFi-M8 will bypass the DAC inside with AK100 and use its own, superior DAC.

- HiFi-M8 will drive HD-800 loud. No worries.

So they claim the m8 dac is superior to the dac inside the ak100 and will bypass it like the CLAS does with iDevices...

I just emailed them again to ask if an RWAK100 would be able to be recognized by the m8...will reply here with their response when I receive it. I know that there's a low gain iem mod they offer for the m8, but there are some folks who already have an RWAK100, and it would suck if that mod would render it useless for the hifi-m8

So yes the RWAK100 will work with the hifi-m8
