Aful Performer Impressions Thread

Some companies treat small reviewers like myself not too nicely, to be frank. Everyone should treat my reviews of AFUL IEMs with some reservations since (1) my ears pretty much align with their tuning style, (2) I pretty much supportive of how they approach technical aspects of IEMs and (3) whilst I have never talked to AFUL directly, their rep via Hifigo is friendly, respectful, and never push for positive reviews, so I like them. It does not mean I will lie to get AFUL and Hifigo more sales, but I do have a positive regard about both.

For transparency, small channels like mine would not have “sample” of something as expensive as Cantor and up. I did pay for my unit, though Hifigo immediately intervene and gave a good discount. The lack of reach and my way of ranking IEMs do get me cut off from certain sources of products, but it’s okay. No hard feeling.

When I said I’m getting more AFUL IEMs, I do mean it as there are still gaps in my collection I want to fill in, and AFUL tends to deliver. Say, I need a technical IEM like U12t, I found that in Cantor. Now I want something with good “vibe” like P7 but with good technical performance. Finger crossed the quadbrid would deliver that.

Btw, I checked with YouTube policy. All reviews here, as soon as a free sample or discount involves, is legally a sponsored / product placement / ads 🤭 All of it.

I’m still bracing myself for an inevitably bad release from AFUL. Hopefully it would be the planar rather than the quadbrid 🤭 I will review everything carefully and let you know.
I can't wait for your review, mate. I always get excited when reading your reviews and I trust your ears. If Aful will do a great job with this quadbrid I'm prepared to sell my Shanling iems to get an endgame like this Aful. Also comfort is the most important thing for me and Aful iems do a great job at this, unlike other brands that like to use heavy titanium shells to go to war probably "Cough...Fi..io..Cough"

Any guesses for the pricing? Think I shall abandon my temptation for Symphonium Giant for this.. But afraid that this would be over 1200$ type . Damn...
My guess for pricing? Hard to say. But here goes:

Aful PolarNight $199
AFul Planar $99
Aful Quadbrid $1199!

Honestly, no idea, your guess is as good as mine. But knowing Aful they won't go into the Super Flagship level and might just go 999.

Tried these bad boys at Canjam today :gs1000smile:

TLDR it's bloody impressive... It has the technical capabilities of the Cantor but with the fun and musical tuning of the Performer 7. Basically a supercharged Performer 7. I'm for sure going to pick one up as soon as it releases.

BTW, heard from the rep it's going to be in the ballpark of 1000 USD.

@yellowbirdfly

Looks like they want to compete with ThieAudio TOTL models but for less money which is insane as their IEMs already have a very decent price-performance ratio. It was the next logical step for Aful to go with EST and BC drivers as many IEMs enthusiasts are interested for them beside of balanced armatures only.

I definitely need to now follow this thread! Eager to hear more about this set, and as I’ve started enjoying buds again, PolarNight is an inevitable purchase… plus I really have to try Cantor still!

This is a great news, p7's tuning with cantor's techs that's a solid combo. I am hyped. How's the fit and nozzle situation? Same as cantor or better?

How is its bass response?

Does it dive into the sub-bass correctly?

I hope it's tastefully lifted linear bass, so just a bit more mid bass energy and sub bass presence, and it'll be a killer set. I don't want a bunch of sub bass rumble. It's what turned me off with the Legion. Excellent all-around, except the bass was a bit cumbersome and slow, with too much presence (rumble and punch).

The fit was great; it didn't distract me at all while I was listening. I think it fits better than Cantor to my ears.

From what I could remember, a very solid and linear bass response with great texture and punch. Yes, the sub-bass feels correct to my ears with just the right amount of rumble.
