If you plan on keeping your new IEM for a long while then, burning in the IE8 won't be an issue. You can just listen to them during the day and use pink or white noise while your asleep. They sound their best after 300+ hours. If isolation is an issue, grab the SE530's.

Shouldn't have to worry about the cable issue. As stated previously, Shure modified their cable formula over a year ago to address the issues that were occurring for some people. I haven't seen any evidence to suggest there is a trend of cable problems with the new cables.

Could you please advice as to what I should choose between the following, which I understand are all great: Shure SE530, Ultimate Ears Triple Fi10 or Super Fi5 Pro, Sennheiser IE8 and Sleek Audio SA6. Also, shoud I buy a portable amp? If so, which amp should I buy without spending too much money? BTW, I prettly much listen to all kinds of music. Many thanks in advance!!

I've listened to the Shure SE530s, IE8s and Westone 3s and of the three, I preferred the Westone 3s. They did about everything better than the rest.

At this point Westone 3 is $150-200 more than competitors(street wise) though. at 190 in europe the IE8 is a great deal right now, unless of course you need isolation. I am a student and traveler and use iems mostly walking around campus all day and on airplanes and the isolation and comfort of SE530 are unbeatable amongst universals. But if those two things are not as important for you, IE8. (keep in mind i have only heard most of the UE series, SE530, UM1, UM2) and can only recommend the IE8 based on the impressions of others.

Significant difference for me when using a HeadRoom Micro Amp (desktop module).
