Hi, looking to upgrade my ipod to a new player. Im no sudiophile but ipod just idnt poeerful enough for me as i like my dance music and some of the mix’s i have seem to have been recorded at a low volume. I dont want to use a portable amp and msinly will be used outside. I love the AK JR for its looks and have seen a demo one with the graphics on ebay in my price range but open to suggestions please. AK Jr is one of the best bang-per-buck players on the market. Great SQ - I'm listening to mine right now.

The only downside is that the UI is pretty dated and slow/clunky to navigate. I tend to set up playlists and run through those to avoid using the UI so much.

It's plenty powerful enough to drive most headphones. You should be able to normalize the volume of your audio files with something like MediaMonkey.

Thanks, is it worth buying the ex demo one i have seen on eBay iyo ? Or is there something else in same price range that would do the job just as good ?

Have a look at Pioneer xdp 30r too. I'm blown away by mine!

+1 on the Jr. as long as you don't mind the UI, as mentioned I also like the iBasso DX80 a lot--you might read about it and see what you think. It is possible it could work as well.

I wouldn't really hesitate to by an ex-demo piece, as long as it worked and wasn't scratched up. Then again, I'm not OCD in keeping things pristine.
