I am new to audiophile community and looking to buy the best entry level equipment I can get. Currently I am using Bose aeii with an lgv30 quad dac. My phone's screen packed in so I've decided to invest in a dedicated player and I'm wondering what's the best to get to use with my Bose till I can upgrade the headphones. I'm very confused by all the dac bitrate and reviews. My budget max 100 to 200 for the player. I was tempted to get an older player is there a difference in sound between a dap from 2010 say and 2018?

I would assume that that parts used in newer DAPs are getting more energy efficiency, then older DAPs.
And being able to provide better resolution on their displays.
Are there some used DAPs (MP3 players) from 2010, that sound just as good as newer DAPs, sure, did those great sounding DAPs from 2010 cost a lot, you bet they did.
Check out this Xduoo X3 (version 2) on Massdrop.

Agreed with this. It is tough to compare against sound because this is very subjective but function, performance and UI wise new DAPs will definitely a good choice. Check out Shanling and Fiio! That make good and affordable DAPs.
