I've had my e4c for some time now and i think it's finally time for an upgrade. I think i would like something more fun sounding AND wont bust my bank. I've heard the SF5 pros but didn't really like them - not sure if its the UE sound signature that i'm not fond of or just those particular phones

Not too sure how many models in the ~$150 range. i'm totally fine with buying 2nd hand.

I listen to primarily r&b, rock, occasional classical; i am not a basshead. Quite particular about clarity - the e4c was pretty good at that, but sometimes i felt it was a little too.. sterile?

Modded Sony EX90 - why spend loads. I use mine more than my Westone UM2's now.

Klipsch custom 3(rich mids almost same as SE530 with great bass n clear highs), image X5(balanced sound) , Shure SE420(overall clear sound) and turbine(rich mids n rich deep bass).......

I have both the E4c the Super.fi 5 Pro and enjoy them, but today there are many options for less price. I would recommend the Turbines (one of my favorites, and I am not a basshead) or the PFE.
