Cheers all. First post to the forum.
I'd like your advice and comments on the setup I am considering and have a question.
Cans, AMP/DAC, source and player are:
Heaphones: Beyer DT 770 Pro 80 ohm
DAC/AMP: Fiio E17K ALPEN 2
Music Source: Apple Music (streaming via cellular)
Music Player: Iphone 6
I am using this setup at work. Apple Music works for me for a variety of reasons better discussed in another forum/thread. I do have it set to stream at "highest quality" (256 kbps), although I chuckle a little at that.
1. Will the iPhone 6 DAC "turn off" because its connected to a superior DAC? How is that handled, if at all?
2. If I am using such a powerful headphone amp should I opt for the higher ohmage headphones?
WHAT DO MY EARS LIKE?
I recently had the Blue MoFis for a month. They were absolutely fantastic for me, but far too heavy and uncomfortable. Otherwise I loved them. Smooth, natural but not neutral. Punchy but not mushy bass. Huge and accurate soundstage. Couldn't wear them for more than an hour due to discomfort. Heartbreak!
Any advice on alternate rigs to consider (my source and player will not be changing) would be very welcome.
