That is unfortunately very true, the only thing linux has always let me down on is battery life.
On vista I can go down to 17~18W if I really want to powersave, on Fedora I cannot go below 20W, regular web browsing fires it to 23W vs 20 on vista. Putting the cpu at min freq killing wifi, most services and even X altogether, and it doesn't go any lower.

Haha. Good that your trying out Linux. I've got 100% experience in that area because I'm a fellow hacker

. Ubuntu is okay as a Windows replacement (kinda) but me and my FreeBSD are one.

A friend of mine keeps urging me to try FreeBSD, if for no other reason because it's about the only alternative OS that neither one of us has tried.
