That is unfortunately very true, the only thing linux has always let me down on is battery life.
On vista I can go down to 17~18W if I really want to powersave, on Fedora I cannot go below 20W, regular web browsing fires it to 23W vs 20 on vista. Putting the cpu at min freq killing wifi, most services and even X altogether, and it doesn't go any lower.

Which is 64-bit only.

EDIT: 32-bit is out too I guess. I can't get it to work though.

I tried mint and really liked it. A refreshing alternative to ubuntu...

Unfortunately it didn't like me.

Haha. Good that your trying out Linux. I've got 100% experience in that area because I'm a fellow hacker

. Ubuntu is okay as a Windows replacement (kinda) but me and my FreeBSD are one.
