Hi guys,

I've got a Razer Mako 2.1 system.
It works ok but I'd like to increase sound quality when watching movies. I was thinking of adding an Amplifier to it.

The Subwoofer inputs look like this

At the moment I'm connecting my PC/TV using Line1 input.

Can I gain a better quality using for example a Yamaha RX-V375 amplifier?
Should I then connect the Amp using Line 2 of my subwoofer?

Thanks a lot

The Razor Mako 2.1 was not designed for daisy chaining another amplifier to it.
Best you might do is to get a good DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) to improve audio quality. ($60-$100).
Something to go between the PC & TV and the Mako
Do you have a separate computer and separate TV you hook to the Mako?

Thanks for the answer!
Yes, I've a separate Notebook and Tv that I connect to the mako.

Do you know what digital outputs your notebook and TV have?
 (optical or coaxial or USB)

My laptop is a macbook pro, it has
  1. Audio line out/headphone minijack (digital/analog)

My Tv is a Samsung UE39F5370, it says
1 x headphones ( mini-phone stereo 3.5 mm )
1 x digital audio output (optical) ( TOS Link )

I usually play music from my laptop and movies from the tv.

Would something like Audioquest-DragonFly v1.2 be a good choice for me?
I see also HRT microstreamer with 2 output (1 is for amplifier) maybe the mako fits well with this..

I can see I can connect them to the mac. I'm not sure if the TV usb works as well with these DAC.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions

My laptop is a macbook pro, it has just one output to connect headphones, it says
"combined optical digital output/headphone out"

My Tv is a Samsung UE39F5370, it says
1 x headphones ( mini-phone stereo 3.5 mm )
1 x digital audio output (optical) ( TOS Link )

I've also a 3rd device (a Raspberri Pi) that I might want to connect to the 2.1 System sometimes, it also has these audio output
3.5 mm jack, HDMI, I²S audio

Would something like Audioquest-DragonFly v1.2 be a good choice for me? I think I can connect it to the laptop or TV with the usb and then go with the analog jack cable to the Razor?

Can I gain some good quality with this DAC?

Thanks a lot for your suggestions

As both TV and Macbook have optical outputs, get a DAC with an optical input, Schiit Modi (optical) is $99 (standard Toslink input)
The TV uses a standard Toslink optical output and the Macbook uses a 3.5mm mini-Toslink output, so you would need to different optical cables.

For Macbook.

For TV

You can get either cable it whatever length you need.
