Since I purchased my ADDIEMs a few months ago occasionally one of buds would sound as if it were blown (quiet, crackly,etc) but when I loosened the filter and tightened it again--problem solved. A couple days ago--same thing, but no amount of adjusting the filter, removing cleaning and replacing the filter, etc would fix it, so I just took the darn thing off....ahhhhhh what an improvement! Not only did it fix crackly sound, but the SQ was greatly improved (the clarity of the upper end was greatly enhanced and the music was much more detailed). I think it must be a combination of bringing the drivers further down the canal and eliminating the interference of the metal mesh.

But whatever the reason...has anyone else had this problem? and has anyone else used their stock tips w/o the filters?
