I got this player today. It works with AAs but neither of the Sony adaptors I had would power the unit. They had the right size plug, were the recommended 9v but something is still wrong. Can someone help me clear up this mystery? Thanks Jfalford

What about polarization of the tip?
Old Sony models have "minus" tip but most of the newish positive tip.
Better check before connect to the main

DCP-50 takes AA?
Good to know, my DCP-150 takes 2 off BP-EX2

BP-2EX lead-acid 4V battery use in old Sony PCDP, replacement costs about $40, bad luck.
The battery looks like matchbox, similar.
used in D-25, D-555, D-88....

Actually, I used to own a Denon DCP-70. It was the same as the DCP-50 except it came with a remote. It was stolen some time back. Anyhow, I believe I still have the AC Adapter for it. I'll check when I get home this evening. If I do, I'll sell it to you for $5 plus shipping which should be around $5 also. Drop me an email if you're interested.

Thanks ToyTrains YGPM PS, Mine also looks like it has a sensor for a remote but it did not come with it. I don't guess there is any chance you have that too.
