I'm no longer able to enjoy the sound of most headphones due to my ears becoming overly sensitive to anything over ~70-75dB for more than 20 minutes. I can do 80dB for about 5-10 minutes without discomfort. I didn't realize until somewhat recently that my airpods pro headphones have an adaptive EQ built in that automatically bumps the bass at lower volume levels which makes me enjoy them far more than I would otherwise. I was always turning the volume up way too loud chasing the bass which has lead to the situation I'm in now.

Are there any other headphones on the market preferably of higher quality than airpods pro with a similar technology? Wireless is preferred but not absolutely required. I briefly had a pair of Focal Bathys and really enjoyed them but was forced to return them due to this problem of mine. I'm not sure if it's possible to emulate this effect with a standard manual fixed EQ? At least I wasn't able to achieve results I was happy with when I tried...

Thanks for any help!

RME ADI-2 DAC has a loudness feature that allows you to tune bass and treble at various different levels. If I understand what you want correctly this is what you are after?

It is also implemented in CamillaDSP as well and here is a picture that speaks thousand words.

I am not aware of any portable / wireless options I am afraid.
Thanks, that actually looks great! And yes, it appears this loudness tuning feature is what I am after. I'll dig deeper into the RME ADI-2, perhaps there is one in my future.
