Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes: I have read in several places that using a 1/4" to 1/8" straight adapter (like the one that comes with the HD595) is bad for the smaller headphone jacks, so everyone recommends getting the cable adapter made by Grado or Sennheiser. Now, what about going from 1/8" to 1/4"? Is it ok to use the straight adapter that came with my SR60's? Are the 1/4" jacks sturdy enough to handle the stress, or does a cable exist that goes from 1/8" to 1/4"?

For a 1/8 - 1/4'' adapter I just use my Grado adapter and it works fine for me.

You should be fine going 1/8th to 1/4.
