My MiniDisc recorder Sharp MD-DR470 has a four-pin headphone socket and came with an adapter to connect three-pin headphones as well.
If I measured this adapter correctly, L- and R- are connected to GND. This is exactly what I expect to happen if I connect a three-pin headphone directly to the unit, but with the adapter it sounds quite different.
Is there perhaps something else in the adapter? (It's sealed and I don't want to open it.) Or am I issing something?
