I love great actors but I think at times it can be counter productive. For example, there is no doubt that Robert De Niro is a great actor but every time I see him in a movie especially in recent ones, I am not seeing his character. Instead I keep being distracted thinking that this is Robert De Niro.
Yeah, I know the public disagrees with me because well known actors draw the audience. But sometimes if an actor is so famous, it can be a distraction to the movie and the character becomes less convincing since the face and acting style is so familiar. I'm at the point that I'm seeing an A list celebrity rather than the movie character.
