Hi there,
 
For my multiroom setup (single speaker kitchen/bathroom/basement/garate) - I decided to go for the Active Speakers + Chromecast Audio route. I think it gives me the highest amount of flexibility (Sonos etc are too restricted for my taste).
 
Now trying to find good quality speakers around 200-300$: active, auto-standby and if possible with USB power socket.
Does something like that exist?
 
Something like this: http://www.nubert.de/nupro-a-100/p1361/?category=218 - the problem is that USB power is not available in standby, so there is no way of waking it up through the Chromecast Audio.

Most users here use headphones. You might get better luck in chrome cast audio centric forums, but if I have to give an opinion, use chrome cast audio -> optical cable to remote controlled speakers such as Kanto YU3 http://www.kantoliving.com/product/yu3/
