A while back someone made a recomendation for Acoustic Alchemy. I took the suggestion & really like it!!! Does anyone know of some other groups that are similar? Or does anyone have other suggestions you think I might like?

Spyro Gyra, possibly the Yellowjackets, stuff that's a little farther out there; Medeski, Marin & Wood, Garage A Trois, Garaj Mahal, Critters Buggin, and Galactic. That's all I can think of right now (still too early) there's more but I am not totally awake yet!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check them out! I do have some Spyro - Gyra & I like them too. I enjoy this kind of music in my office & when I'm reading or surfing!

Great band.

I would recommend The Rippingtons over just about anyone in this pop instrumental genre.

Ken Navarro would also be similar, particularly the earlier stuff. "Island Life" is a great cd. Chuck Loeb, Craig Chaquico. Yellowjackets are a little more straight ahead jazz.

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll definitely keep an eye out for these. I've been on a music buying craze lately - don't know whats gotten into me - but I like it!!!!

I would recommend Peter White, if you're into that acoustic guitar and smooth-jazz sound. Also Ottmar Liebert falls into that same category although his has a more Latin flavor to it. Earl Klugh is a veteran jazz solo guitarist who only plays acoustic guitars and continues to make great music.

I got into Acoustic Alchemy after stumbling into their Blue Chip CD from my Dad's collection and I have been hooked since. "Catalina Kiss" and "Casino" are my all-time favorite Alchemy songs.

Just wanted to say thanks for this thread! I listened to some samples of Acoustic Alchemy on iTunes right after I read this and liked what I heard. Unfortunately I had no iTunes credit at that time but I went out straight away and bought the "The Very Best Of..." CD and really like it.

RE: Accoustic Alchemy You can actually do muchbetter than the "Best Of" cd.

"Aart" is widely regarded as the best release followed closely by "Beautiful Game." Great stuff.
