Hi there I have a quick question. So I just picked up a Sony D-33 off ebay...! But it came with nothing but the unit. So I've been wondering if I would get a AC adaptor, what am I looking for? I have no clue about these. Can you guys tell me what I need. Also, does the AC adaptor charge my AA batteries that are already in the player? Thanks a lot.

On that ebay auction was the S&H $15.95 or somewhere around that price? If it was I was also bidding on that D-33.

congradulations on the new (old) D-33.

NOTE: The AC adapter does not recharge the batteries in the player

I remember having that model and it never recharge the batteries.

I also have this question. I've just got D-33 from ebay but no adaptor included. So could anybody tell me the actual size of adaptor plug for D-33. I have universal AC/DC adaptor with various plugs but none of them fits the hole. Now I use the plug that has the same size with plug of D-465. Sometimes it works but sometimes not. I guess the actual one is bigger than one of D-465. Plz anyone tell me the actual size.

Naw, I'm the only one who bid for it, 6.14 CND for the Player. 7.50 GBP for shipping. So... how about the charger...? Hey, at my local pawn shop I seen they had a bunch of AC Adaptors, maybe 40 to 60 adaptors. Maybe I should just bring my D-33 over there and test till I get one that works. Should I?

EDIT: Oh yes, I have yet to even receive my item yet. And Just got a new pair of PX 200s earlier today! Wow amazing!

If you want to go all out, look for a linear regulated 9v wall wart... cleaner power generally equals better sound. I use mine with NiMH rechargeable batteries to avoid the whole power issue.

So all I need is a 9v? Or am I not getting something here?

Yes you will need a 9v adapter, and one that has at least a 500mA output or greater. If you don't plan on getting the Sony OEM one and decide to go with one of those universal ones, you also need to make sure that the universal adapter comes with the correcter adapter jack size that will fit into your D-33. I think the correct adapter jack dimension is as follows:

Be sure to check the polarity too. Its indicated in the jack in the back of the unit.

this is what i use for my D-33 and works great, it pretty dirty in the pics as i got it used and cleaned it after the pictures (also has the polarity icon):

The adapter pictured above isn't a regulated power supply, it's just a Sony OEM 9v ac adapter. Fewtch can probably provide you with more info on the difference between a regulated and non regulated power supply as he has done some research on it.

A regulated power supply will give you a cleaner power without noise, every PCDP accepts a negative (-) or positive (+) polarity ac adapter jack that plugs into it. In one of the pic supplied, look at the polarity symbol below the 1000mA word on the ac adapter, that symbol on that particular adapter has a positive polarity ac adapter plug that goes into your PCDP. Take a look at the ac jack on your D-33, you should have the matching polarity symbol near it indicating that the D-33 needs a 9v ac adapter with a positive (+) polarity ac adapter plug. In the polarity symbol in the pic, if the broken circle or "C" in the middle of the symbol was backwards or facing the towards the negative (-) symbol instead of positive (+) as shown then it would mean that the ac adapter has a negative polarity ac adapter plug and will only work with PCDPs that accepts a negative polarity ac plug.

I get the polarity thing, but how do you know if it's regulated for not?
