I have some question about this DAC. I intend to use it with my computer.

1. If I connect this DAC by USB, when I use upsampling option, the CPU load will increase. While through Coax, the sound card will do the upsampling instead of CPU, so my CPU performance will not degrade. Do I understand correctly?

2.Can this DAC be used with ASIO or Kernel Streaming?

Comments are appreciated.

2. Yes.

Well, not entirely. The Stello DA100 doesn't support ASIO 2.0 natively. You could buy the usb-audio driver of course. Another option is ASIO4All.

You're right. I don't know what I was thinking when I gave my answer. Brain fart I guess.

The Apogee Mini-DAC, if I'm not mistaken, has flawless ASIO support through USB.

Thx both of you. At first I thought the DAC will receive the upsampled signal from the sound card. Now I would no longer need the X-Fi anymore.
