How is the a900s seperation of the instruments? I'm hoping that the soundstage is expansive, but coming from a closed cup, I can't picture it being outstanding
A900s have no bass? Don't listen to DT-770s fanboys
. (Do internalize what warubozu said.)
If you are a basshead get the DT-770s, otherwise get the A900s. I have the A900s and love them. They have plently of bass. I just got an amp, I think it helps a little bit with them, but they are a great can unamped.
is it just me, or is HD600 -> A900 more of a side-grade than an upgrade? not bashing the A900s by any means, i love 'em. but seriously, if you want a real upgrade as opposed to changing the sound signature of your setup, maybe you should opt higher up the audio-technica line. there's the A900LTD (with seperated cable grounds among other sonic upgrades), the W1000, the W5000, and lots of other stuff. judging from my auditions, the W1/5K are worth the extra cash vs the A900(LTD). just my 2 cents.

I wouldn't mind a pair of A900LTD
In fact, I'm looking to buy a pair.. anyone know where to get them?
Hmm they are definiatly growing on me now. I wonder if the A900 is more forgiving on crappy sources?
I am trying it with the Xbox 360 now and in Gears of Wars and PGR 3 I preferr the A900 currently.
On PC with my X-Fi I preferr the DT 770 PRO for GTR 2...
Running my pimeta Amp on both. Also I have left them running over night a couple of nights so they have maybe 20-30h in them and it does feel they have a bit more bass now
Still they are definiatly brighter sounding then the DT 770 PRO:s.
I am having real problem now choosing headphones for every game I run lol.
