the a55 has much less range than the a500, ad500 and up. however, they are decent for music and have a nice 'warm' sound. need a huge burn in time. comfy and more isolating than the other technicas

I saw the A55s on Amazon for 80$. Do you think it is worth paying an extra 35$ to get the A700? Or should I go towards the AD700 at 105$? I mainly prefer close cans, unless the sound quality is a huge difference.

i would pay the extra for the a700 myself. another option is the jvc harx700 or 900. 38 and 58$. both blow away the a55 in everything but looks and comfort (and thats arguable)

Me impression was that A55 was made for studio use, monitoring.
A700 is made for pleasure listening.

How is the AD700 compared to the A700 in sound quality? If the difference isn't too big, I'll go for the A700.
