OMG If I have to choose, I'd get the AD500.
That's because of the comfortness of Audio Technica open air headphones. They're so comfy and light, OMG!

But then of course, OMG, if you like isolation (so that you can't hear that much outside noise and vice versa), you'd better off with A500, OMG.

But if you ask me, OMG, my vote goes to AD500, OMG! You can like wear them for hours! OMG !!

yes I am sure.. at audiocubes.. the.. DONT MISS THE "AD" and "A" they are different types... AD=open A=close. Anyways

at audiocubes the A500 is 120 shipped? A700 is 155 shipped.

at digitallyunique the AD700 is 115 shipped. and A700 is 130 shipped. AND the AD500 is 79 shipped too.

BUT even though the AD series is a lot cheaper and I did a quick research and found the AD series does everything better than the CLOSED A series BUT doesn't have as much bass...

and I really like clean tight but also quatitative amount too.

the AD2000 had really nice bass. Tight and punchy and just the right amount of deepness. Combined with the airyness, its a great pair of opened cans. So guess the rest of the AD line up should sound rather similar?

Interesting... I didn't know there was another supplier of those ATs outside of audiocubes...

Huh. Must have missed that. Wonder how the AD300s are; I'm always on the lookout for good, inexpensive headphones I can recommend to friends.

Note that there are no 900, 1000 or 2000 models on AudioTechnica USA's site - they just don't officially import those high-end models into this country. Of the full-size ATH music-listening-oriented models, only the lower- to middle-end ATH-AD### series models and the ATH-A700 are officially imported into North America.

At least this guy doesn't seem to like them all that much:

As far as I can gather from the Babblefish "translation", they apparently took a closed design and made it open, with only moderate success. Someone who's a touch better in Japanese might want to clear this up.
