After a period of research (and financial realities), it's coming down to these two headphones for me....

I'm also considering the HFI-500 as a lower-end, slightly warmer alternative to the HFI-650. I would imagine that the 500 is to the 650 what the A500 is to the A900.

Any input is welcome.

Ultrasone would work well (and does for me) as a portable, whereas the AT would be considered moer transportable, but not very pratical to use while walking down the street. Also the Ultrasone has fairly small earpads, so it might be supra-aural if you have large ears, wheas I doubt the AT would be.

Portability doesn't really matter. I'll be using them at home, for movies and for music when projector noise or AC noise is an issue.

If they both sound comparably good (or in the same general ballpark), I'll vote with my wallet and get the A500....They are both pretty popular here.
