Which one would be better for mainly gaming? My friend wants some new headphones after using my DT770/80. His budget is around the A500/A700 area, and I'm wondering which one would be better for gaming unamped.

I own both A500 and A700 and would say that if gaming will be your main use of the cans, then I would suggest that you pick up the A500s as they're a good set of cans for that purpose and for ocassional music listening. The A700s will also fit the bill for gaming quite well but also does music better than the A500s in that it offers a slightly more detailed sound. Both can's sound position are excellent. I would pick up the A700s if you spend equal amount of time between gaming and listening to music or if you listen to music more than you do gaming. Both cans don't reqiure an amp to sound good as both are easy to drive.
