This is not an advertisement and it doesn't mean we are going to upgrade the BTR5. Instead, it is just a survey to know your opinions and ideas with the BTR5 as an example.
After the FiiO BTR5 was introduced to the market, it has been popular thanks to its exquisite appearance, excellent sound quality, versatile functions, affordable price and powerful functions, and it is also a star product in the FiiO family in the past two years. However, the battle between the 2.5 and 4.4 balanced ports has come to an end. As the 4.4 became the winner, the BTR5 will definitely feature the 4.4 balanced headphone port in the future.
Since the 4.4 headphone jack is relatively large, we have to reconsider how to achieve it. Basically, there are two solutions. One is a conventional design- to thicken and lengthen the body on the basis of the BTR5, so to accommodate the 4.4. The other is to redesign the layout of the headphone jack- to move the headphone jack from the top to the left and right sides. In this way, we can make better use of the internal space and thus control its volume. Or, it can contain a larger battery under the same volume.
On many occasions, a side-out headphone jack (on the two sides) is less convenient than a straight-out (on the top) one, but it is not a big problem. We are not so sure. So we would like to know how you think.
By the way, the BTR5 is severely out of stock at present. What's worse, we are unable to reach the ESS9218 chip, so that we have to use the ESS9219 in later production, which will significantly increase the cost. As a result, there will probably be a rise in the price.
This is our product plan. If we finally decide to use the 4.4 headphone jack and change other designs, we will probably perform it earlier at the beginning of next year. The project is still under consideration. If you have any ideas and suggestions, please let us know. Thank you so much.
