Hello Guys,

My current gear is Asus Xonar Phebeous and DT990 pro 250ohm,
soon i will be buying ( buying not replacing ) Yamaha YHT- 298 Home theater bundle;
http://asia.yamaha.com/en/products/audio-visual/hometheater-systems/home-theater-package/yht-298_black_l/

i'm pretty sure that  i will connect the spdif out of my xonar to the spdif in of my yamaha A/V receiver for surround sound ( movies and games ).
What i am not sure of is my headphone setup for stereo sources
i am thinking about these 3 choices:

1- running the headphone on my xonar headphone out ( the same as now )
2- running my headphone using the headphone out of my A/V receiver after connecting my sound card to the receiver using spdif ( the DAC of the receiver is burr-down but i am not sure if it can drive a 250ohm headphone well)
3- connecting my soundcard  to the A/V receiver with spdif ( to use it as the DAC ) then connecting the receiver to Fiio amp and then connecting my headphone.

P.S: I am not satisfied with my current headphone sound quality.

Thank you in advance

Hopefully you disabled the motherboard's on-board audio, in the BIOS, when you installed the Phoebus?
I really doubt the Yamaha receiver will do a better job with your headphones.
I like Yamaha's because they come with Silent Cinema, Yamaha's own version of headphone surround sound.

But I think you could do better for sound quality by not getting the Yamaha bundle and buying a refurb Denon receiver off Accessories 4 less

and getting Monoprice ($230) 5.1 speaker

or Energy speakers ($299) 5.1 speakers

I believe Monoprice gets it's 5.1 from the same factory Energy does.

ok
first of all, yes i disabled my onboard audiocard but not from the BIOS

second yeah i think the Denon is way better
but 2 reasons it would be hard for me to buy it
1- my country(Egypt) has much fees for customs and this item is too heavy so it would be too expensive.
2- the speakers u mentioned are also expensive for me.
yamaha bundle is availabe at my country at 3900LE whic is like $520 including all customs and fees
the setup u mentioned might cost way more than this
