Hello everybody. I'm in the market for a new sound card and I'm not too sure about which one to get. I use my PC for everything, mostly music, but a fair share of gaming too. I'm more concerned about the music and movie quality in a sound card. I've used a Creative Labs X-Fi with some cheap speakers, and heard a world of difference. That was before I purchased my Sennheiser HD 280 PROs and have been using a Creative Labs Audigy SE sound card + my Senns.
I'm looking for a sound card the preferably does it's own audio processing, is Linux compatible, and costs less than $150. I'm leaning towards the X-Fi (it's not Linux compatible yet, but will be soon), but have also been looking at cards based on the C-Media's Oxygen HD (CMI8788) audio processors, and ASUS's Xonar D2 (ASUS brands it's sound processor as the AV200, though it's actually just a reworked CMI8788). Any suggestions for a Linux user who wants good sound?
Thanks for your time reading this and I hope to hear back soon.
