There was a lot of white noise. I haven't used a blue snowball, but try turning down the gain and moving in a close as you can get, also, go download a real DAW

To be more serious without spending a whole ton of money you should get yourself a decent solid state digital recorder. With one you won't have to worry about computer noise because you can record with the PC off, or just go into the other room (bathrooms usually have ok acoustics) then move back to the DAW to finish up. I recommend Samson's Zoom products
