A sad day in the world of Opera (and music in general)

Very sad day indeed.

Although my Father was born in Italy and I am very familiar with how names are pronounced in Italian; my favorite way to pronounce Pavarottis' name was the way I heard it while on a business trip to Nashville Tennessee in 1980.

It was on a PBS special of a concert just before Christmas in Montreal, Canada. But the announcer in Nashville continually called him Lucheeno Peveretti.

What IS strange though is that from that day forward; that's pretty much the way I'VE been pronouncing it myself!

No big deal in my neighborhood though; that's pertnear how most everyone else says it anyway!

Sigh. He lived a great life. It also came as a shock to me as it was only the 10 August when doctors said he was in a good condition. My condolences go out to his family and friends.
