I'm helping to build a budget computer, and am wondering if you guys have any recommendations for a budget sound card. This is an extremely low budget system; we only have $300 to use on parts. Recommendations for other parts are also appreciated, so if you folks would like to help, any input is much appreciated. It will be running most likely Kubuntu, if that information helps.

Anyone care to comment on the defective rate of the Asus soundcards?  I'm seeing a lot of complaints on the DX for instance!

Where are the complaints for the DX, I would like to read up on that.

Seems like the DG being a different card altogether is the better buy.

Wow, higher problem rate then I would have expected, thanks.
Glade I started pushing the DG over the DX.
