I thought it would be a good idea to create this list of all the headphones i've ever owned on my journey towards the Sony MDR7510. Someone might find it useful, it might help steer them in the right direction. I've ranked the headphones starting from best to worst. Only sound quality is taken in to consideration.

1. Sony MDR7510. Right at the top. Simply the best headphone i've ever heard. The most accurate, most neutral, most detailed, best soundstage of every open back and closed back headphone i've ever heard. I paid £110 ($140 U.S dollars ) for it...

How did you like your DT990? I see you ranked them quite high.
I have the DT880 600ohm and just purchased the DT990 600ohm.

Hi
I liked the sound signature of the DT990 (I had the 250 Ohm version) and in particular it's soundstage and imaging for watching movies with. I preferred the DT880 600 ohm for music, but I thought the DT990 was overall the better headphone. Despite being an older model, I think the DT990 is still a very technical headphone even by today's standards, it's still relevant, thus why I ranked it highly. It's probably my second favourite Beyerdynamic (Not sure the Astell & Kern T5P should be considered a Beyerdynamic), my favourite Beyerdynamic being the T70 250 ohm.

Thanks for posting,
regards.

My question: on the headphones ranked low on the list, did you dislike/hate them or is it more of a case of "good, but I personally like these other headphones better?"

I understand the question is entirely subjective and am interested in just your opinion

Yes, that is basically correct. I didn't hate them, it's just my personal opinion/ranking of best to worse, or perhaps I should say; from best to least best.
I don't think I have ever made 1 bad headphone purchase in the 10 years i've been active in this hobby.

Thanks for your interest.

B&O H6 represent :) haha.

I know it’s only ranked 28 but its nice to see it here and appears to be behind mostly open backs or more expensive closed backs, give or take. I’m not familiar with some of the cans on your list. I think for what it is it’s a tiny bit underappreciated although it has a pretty good following. I have the Gen 2 and it’s my work headphone, with a Fiio Q1. My open back for home is the HD6XX.

I’ve not heard the Sony’s you have ranked #1
