Hello everyone, I'm looking for a pair of headphones which will be used strictly for movies/gaming(I reckon they will be used for music at times, but that is not their purpose) for about the range of 150-200$ although I would like to stick to the bottom of the range but, if the difference between let's say 2 models that is worth the extra cash, fine by me.
 
Said headphones will be used from a FiiO E10 connected into a PC.

A good sound processor will make quite the difference for music/gaming. i suggest getting the creative go! pro or a dolby headphone processor like the turtle beach earforce dss2 (if your computer has an optical out). What they do is turn a 5.1/7.1 signal into a stereo signal specifically for headphones. It makes quite the difference.
 
Next, you will want a headphone with good sound stage. i suggest either the sennheiser hd598 or the sony ma900. The sony's might be much easier to like.

Strictly for movies and gaming? I believe soundstage is everything for this matter. My vote goes to Q701.

I've heard both. While the Q701 might have a slightly better soundstage, its bass is anemic. Which is definitely a negative for movies/gaming. I also would find it hard to justify the $80 price increase of the Q701 over the HD 598 or $130 difference over the HD 558.

The bass of the akg's will disappoint you. Also the q701's soundstage is all width and mediocre depth, although i only noticed it after getting the hd800.

I would personally vote AKG K/Q701 & EQ the bass up a bit. sound stage is the only thing that matters for fps gaming. would you like to hear the pretty explosion or not die b/c you cldn't pinpoint the footsteps?

It seems that I haven't made myself quite unclear, I am looking for immersive gameplay, not competitive.
So good bass is a must but not overpowering of course.

Look into the sony ma900. It has a decent amount of bass.
 
imo soundstage is what makes headphones immersive. but YMMV

I'd go with the Sennhesier HD 558 (better soundstage) or Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro (better bass). Both will be great options for use at home, but will suck if you choose to take them out of the house.

I'm still struggling to understand the differences between all the different versions of the DT 990.
is the DT 990 an open design headphones?

get the 32ohms version if you are planning to plug-n-play into your laptop/smartphone. the higher versions require an amp. the dt 990 are open.

The DT990s are very open headphones, for your price range your looking at getting the DT990 Pro 250-Ohm.
 
You might consider getting Audio Technica ATH-A900X (closed headphones) sell used on eBay for $150.
Get the Hifiman Velour ear pads, $10+shipping.

I don't have a problem with a open headphones, I was just asking.
the only thing that worries my a little bit is the DT990 treble which told to be quite edgy.
now, I own a Brainwavz B2 which are pretty bright IEM's but Usually I don't have problem with them after properly inserting them into my ears.
