probably. now that I examine it closer that seems to be the case and I don't see any glue. Quote:

there might be a massive concentration of SDS-XLR's in the bay area soon.

I wonder how the other balanced amps from SinglePower sound... maybe a balanced MPX3 would be a good balance between price and performance. Quote:

some did. I wonder if mine originally had flats and later replaced with bowls, or not.

not quite sure how old mine is so if someone can tell me or give me pointers that would be very helpful.

This RS-1 is from the earlier batch, as illustrated by the brown leather headband and red drivers (or driver screens). I compared the old-school one to a newer RS-1 and I did indeed prefer the older one, though the comparison wasn't extended and the conditions weren't ideal (this was at the recent SJ meet). Since Neilvg and I are already heading up to Santa Rosa to enjoy the Headcode (and I'm returning Alex's BlockHead) we might as well give the ol' RS-1 a whirl.

In conclusion: ayt999 isn’t that fuzzy – he just bought the RS-1 so he’d have the nice wooden box for his prized PS-1!

Hey Dude,

I remember talking to you a while back about the old school Rs-1's. You are not alone who feels that the older Rs-1's are better. Beagle is also of this same opinion.

I knew alex couldn't handle the ultra fuzz. Maybe he will sell the old school rs-1's cheap to you

RS1's are ultra fuzz? better read your FAQ again.
tongue.gif
says that the RS1's are the master of the fuzz. must have forgotten that part.

btw, did you read my comment I made for your W11JPN picture? isn't that destroying the fuzzy? (and is that you in the pic btw?

)

see how well the PS1 fits? it really likes its new case.

I listened to the RS1's so far with the HeadCode (maybe Leeav and Neil would review it for me when they come... I'm all Head-Fied out right now.
tongue.gif
I should be sending it back to its owner soon too.) and the Balanced Reference and the RS1 sounds quite good. seems different than what I recall of a newer model RS1, and I like this much better.

I'll use it with the SDS-XLR... but either single-ended using half the amp, or with an adaptor so I can use the whole amp, but the output will still be unbalanced. so I was wrong with the pads being glued onto the wood, but the driver is definitely glued in place very well. not going to mess around with that in any way....

I remeber when I had the Ms-pro's the bowl pads were glued on.

I am sure Gman wouldn't mind if you reversed the bowls and glued them back on for him.

You seem to share the same opinion as Leeav and beagle. I will have to get round to comparing sometime.
