Just a very small sample of what I've got currently playing in Foobar. Nice to see a couple of fellow Groop fans here. Tomato Ketchup is good, but Sound Dust will always be my favorite. It's one of the very few records where you really get to hear Mary sing.

I scrolled through my library and selected a few albums. Unfortunately, they aren't as esoteric as some of the other recommendations here.

The Pixies -- Surfer Rosa (maybe listen to Doolittle as well):
Blind Pilot -- 3 Rounds and a Sound
Mazzy Star -- So Tonight That I Might See
Lou Reed -- Transformer

I bookmarked this thread and intend to go through each artist. At some point. Sometime.

Well given that 99% of what's been suggested is more in the rock vein, i'll go with something softer but to me is ultimate Sunday morning music.

Eric Anderson- Blue River

very much in the singer songwriter vein with absolutely superb songwriting. Was a contemporary of Nick Drake and others

Is It really love at all is one of my top 10 favorite songs

I love Stereolab. Add Dots and Loops to the list!

Second the Pixies - Doolittle is great, and I think Bossa Nova is underrated.

Charlatans UK - Between 10th and 11th, Some Friendly - another often overlooked band

Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique, Ill Communication

Kraftwerk - Computer World

St. Germain - Tourist

New Order - Power Corruption & Lies, Low Life

Cynic - Focus
maudlin of the Well - Bath, Leaving your Body Map, and Part the Second (last one is free download off their site)
Magma - Ëmëhntëhtt-Ré, Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh, and every other magma album
Koenjihyakkei - Angherr Shisspa, Nivraym
Kurt Vile - God is saying this to you...
Madvillain - Madvillainy
Metaform - Standing on the Shoulders of Giants
Micachu - Jewellery
Mount Eerie - Wind's Poem

and there is much more but you should probably start there. Magma and Koenjihyakkei are extremely challenging bands, so don't just discard it right away if you don't like it.

Anything Radiohead and then try some of this out:

Jeff Buckley - Grace
Hootie & the Blowfish - Cracked Rear View
Nine Inch Nails - White Teeth
Beck - Modern Guilt

Just some of my favorite albums from different genres.
