ive got a clix2 paired with se530s, but i kinda want to buy a new player. i was looking at the sony a728, the ipod nano, or zune. they are all 8gb players. i was wondering if any of these players would be a substantial upgrade in sq or should i just stay with my clix2? an amp is a possibility but not any time soon. as far as i know only the nano has line out so the amp would be for that.

I've read the se530's are on the warm side, they might not make the best pairing with one of Sony's players. I don't think the Nano or Zune 8 would be a step up in sound quality. The Sansa Fuze is probably your best bet.

the Clip is praised for having very good SQ and the fuze uses the same chipset, so i second the Fuze.
