I need to buy a new set of "cans" for my computer. I currently use Koss Pro-4AA's (the old school version), though I appreciate the isolation they provide and the tank like build, as well as providing decent sound, they get to be somewhat uncomfertable, especially considering the long periods I use them for. I'm now trying to decide between the Beyerdynamic DT831's and the AKG K501's. I'm not considering any other's really, primarily becasue these fit my exact price range ($150-200) and I've heard they are good phones without the use of an amp. I will be running the 'phones directly off of a SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum, the type of sound I like is that of the CD3k's (I love my primary set up[NAD C541i + Singlepower Supra + CD3k's =

). Thanks for any replies.

If you like CD3K, then get an Audio Technica A900.. they have a sound signature that's almost identical to the CD3K, just not quite up there in terms of dynamic range and resolution.
