So far, I've tried various dynamic and planar headphones, as was recommended in different threads. I am still seeking "my" sound since this journey is long.

I really enjoyed 2C, but EQ'ed with Oratory1990's presets as a starting point. To me, 2C's have a very deep bass, but they really lack in it's dynamic. I couldn't find a proper EQ setup to reduce this low-end hum while keeping the sound dynamic in the low end. I played around with damping, but still, my ears get tired after 10min with EQ'ed 2C.

I received many recommendations on trying X and GX. Since I am very sensitive to highs, I found X to be so annoying, whereas I really enjoyed the GX's sound. It is much more involved from the low-end perspective. I like mids and reduced highs. I also EQ them with AutoEQ(Oratory's preset sounds worse to me). The only thing I miss in GX is 2C's spaciousness and transparency. They sound to me like I don't wear headphones. Also, 2C has a very silent background, I am not sure how to explain it better, but when you are listening to something like Ryoja Ikeda, the sounds are separated and the gap between sounds is absolutely silent, I also hear more details with 2C.

So, I wonder what I should try next if I want something with 2C's spaciousness/transparency + GX's dynamic low-end. I heard that GX are based on MM-500 or MX4, not sure if that is true and if they will solve anything above.

I have the Hifiman Edition XS and it sounds like what your describing. No harsh treble peak and if you EQ the bass up 4db with a preamp reduction it delivers. Another approach first would be to use the Autoeq/Peace presets for the neutral fork presets, which are at the menu on the top instead of the original Harman curve profiles. With them tuned flat to begin with, it's so much easier to customize with that as a starting point.

I've tried Hifiman stuff previously, and I was under the impression that it delivers exactly what you pay for. But it wasn't XS, and I don't really remember which model exactly it was. I need to find a place to test XS, then.
