christ man...audiophilia is so expensive.

is there a "best value" amp out there? cheapest i've seen is $300.

My HD-600's are already more expensive than my DAP, and i don't want another component being more expensive.

Cmoy amps can be built for about $15 and sound slightly above their price.
Reading head-fi, theres a DIY amp kit from jaycar (australian store) that's under $100 and has huge potential for upgrade.
*none of these will power an hd600 to satisfaction to my knoweldge.

Sure looks like there are a lot of portable amps under a $100.

If you meant a home amp, then your options are much more limited. If you could manage to convince someone to sell you a basic version of a Starving Student that would fit the bill.

There is the Fiio E5 which is $22 dollars. I did see few more that was under 100 at head-direct. But I dont think they can power the HD600 as the Fiio goes up to 300ohms.

I using the Fiio E5 my self for my desktop. all i need is some velcro and I be all set.

Heck yeah! You can get a Quinpu Q2, nice hybrid tube/ss amp for $99 shipped! Pretty nice sounding little amp, too.

Head Room has a couple that are right around $120-160 that are fantasic amps for the price. The Total AirHead and Total BitHead (which can also act as a USB DAC).

<shameless plug>
In fact you could read my sig and see I have a barely used one for sale in the FS forum!
