A guide to DIY interconnects

I listen to a lot of podcasts, and came across this guide:

The link is to an article, but you can also download the full tutorial video. I am planning on making my own cables, and was wondering if you diy veterans would recommend this as a reputable guide to follow. Thanks!

It's been posted here a few times before, and I think most people have said it's a good basic guide.

I was all set to follow the method, but then I realized the tool set they recommend is pretty expensive, and most of that cost appears to be the crimper. I already have a very nice crimper that I paid about $150 for, so I don't want to double up on them. I also have a few die sets that came with the crimper, but I'm not sure if they can be used for this purpose.

Yeah, I just checked and realized I already have the die set that they mentioned, so I am going to order the parts and try their method out. I am also going to test out the solder method too, and see if I prefer one over the other.
