Tonight I saw a seagate 100 gigabyte 7200 rpm 2.5" hard drive at best buy for $199.99. Seems like it'd be great for those wanting to upgrade an old player.

Methinks it's 3.5". AFAIK, nobody makes a 7200RPM 100GB 2.5" drive - Hitachi's recently announced model is only 5400 RPM.
You can get a 200GB 7200RPM 3.5" FireWire drive for $116 on PriceWatch.
