I am currently rocking the Grado sr80i's and I really like the grado sound.
I like how they handle rock and metal, but I also really really enjoy they're soundstage.
Are there any grado headphones that would be worth it to upgrade to without spending
the kinda money for something like the rs1i's?

I listen to a very wide variety of music, but a lot of rock and metal.
an amp would be something I would invest in if I have to.

I'd get the 225i.  It is generally considered to be the sweet spot in the SR line.

I very much like the 325is, but its sound signature is more a blend of the SR sound signature and the very different RS line sound signature.  It's a true transition can.  Also many find it to be too bright for their tastes.

Best thing that ever happened to me was the 225 with the G-Cush - the soundstage changed a lot for the better & the grado harshness was reduced. But im at the same point as you are: considering an upgrade to.... rs1i, rs2i, ps500.... :)
